Seychelles recently participated in Africa Skills Week (ASW) 2024, hosted in Accra, Ghana, from 14th to18th October. The event,
organized by the African Union under the theme “Skills and Jobs for the 21st Century,” focused on advancing the digital
transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems in Africa.
A key highlight was a regional workshop from October 14th to 16th, which included 20 leaders and practitioners from Seychelles,
Chad, and the Republic of Congo. This workshop was part of a Pan-African initiative aimed at integrating digital technology into
TVET systems. Seychelles was represented by six participants, namely Mr. Hubert Barbe, Mrs. Daniella Athanase, Ms. Tania
Bellard, Mr. Marcus Finesse, Ms. Davillia Philoe and Mr. Bill Radegonde. They were trained on digital transformation strategies.
The workshop provided essential tools for the delegation to advocate for policy reforms and integrate Technology in Seychelles’
TVET system, ensuring students are equipped with skills needed for a rapidly evolving labor market. This engagement also fostered
collaboration with African peers and global partners, enriching Seychelles’ vocational education framework.
Moving forward, Seychelles is committed to implementing the insights gained to modernize TVET and ensure the nation’s youth are
prepared for future job markets. With the support of the Pan-African initiative and the approval of the ministry, the team will develop
a framework for the digitalization of TVET across the education system.
