Renaissance Learning discuss the implementation and impact of the myON reading platform in Seychelles schools

A courtesy call was held with representatives from Renaissance Learning to discuss the implementation and impact of the myON reading platform in Seychelles schools. The meeting of 26th May 2026,was attended by Chris McKenzie, Senior Manager for Customer Success, and Rachel King, Director of Ministries and International School Groups at Renaissance Global, which incorporates GL Education and GL Assessment. Also in attendance were Director Generals from the Ministry, Directors and other staff.
Discussions focused on the use of myON from Primary 2 to Primary 6, with emphasis on strengthening reading comprehension and charting the way forward. The importance of teacher training in comprehension-building skills was highlighted, supported by research from the American Educational Research Association. The team also noted the growing role of parental involvement, which had shown positive results during the Reading Festival.
myON is a personalized, student-centered digital literacy program used in Seychelles public primary schools to improve students’ English literacy.It also integrates comprehension quizzes and progress tests to measure understanding. In addition, the meeting introduced Nearpod, an interactive learning tool that allows teachers to upload quizzes and other materials. Nearpod was recommended for secondary-level students, with free trials available to encourage exploration.
A copy of the study on the effect of myON on Seychelles national exam outcomes for Primary 2 and Primary 4 pupils was received by Mr Kairen Madeleine,the Director Assessment Section.The report illustrates the platform’s contribution to improved literacy and academic performance.
