Ministry of Education Presents SMART Plan to Digital Economy Committee
On Monday, 10th March, Mrs. Daniella Athanase, Principal Education Officer, and Ms. Emma Cadeau, Senior Education Officer, accompanied by the Director for IT Services at the University of Seychelles, presented to the Digital Economy Committee at the Ministry of Finance.
The presentation focused on the SMART Plan, the Ministry of Education’s four-year strategy for the digital transformation of the education system. This plan aims to modernize teaching and learning through digital tools, enhance access to technology in schools, and improve administrative efficiency within the education sector. By leveraging digital platforms, the Ministry seeks to equip both educators and students with the skills and resources necessary for a technology-driven future.
Additionally, the University of Seychelles (UniSey) shared its experience in integrating Microsoft 365 into its operations, demonstrating how digital tools have improved collaboration, communication, and workflow within the institution. As part of their ongoing partnership, UniSey is assisting the Ministry in adopting Microsoft 365 to streamline internal processes and enhance digital learning environments. One key outcome of this collaboration has been the development of the Ministry’s Intranet, a centralized platform that supports communication, document sharing, and access to key resources.
The discussion with the Digital Economy Committee was an important step in advancing the digitalisation agenda within education and ensuring alignment with national digital transformation efforts.
