The United Nations Secretary General, Mr Antonio Guterres, has urged Ministries of Education across the world to embark on a transformation quest as a way of making education more relevant and accessible to the public. Seychelles has joined the bandwagon and transforming education is now part of the solution to a better society. From a world education summit on transforming education which was held in New York in September last year, the delegates resolved to place the youth in the driving seat when it comes to planning and implementing education reform initiatives. The Seychelles Ministry of Education subscribes to this resolution. We believe that if educational processes are to be impactful and their outcomes worthwhile, the beneficiaries ought to have stronger voices in the design and implementation of all reform agendas. The youth have the biggest stake in whatever education projects we develop. Not only should their voices be heard but also their interest should be taken into consideration. Their aspirations matter. It is on these premises that a summit is being planned to bring in the youth of Seychelles into the big education transformation conversation.
