Launching of the First National Active Learning Adventures

The Ministry of Education along with the Special Needs Coordinators (SENCO), organized an “Active Learning Adventures” event in collaboration with Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort on Saturday 03rd August.

The activity which was held from 08:00 am to 3:00 pm included a selected group of Primary Schools Students Year Level P4 to P6 on Mahe, to showcase their abilities in different active learning activities.

The event comprised a series of outdoor games which aimed to stimulate the students’ young minds in creative thinking; problem solving and critical reflection.

The main objectives were to:

  • – Foster a sense of belonging and inclusion among learners with additional challenges
  • – Provide opportunities for social interaction and peer support
  • – Encourage collaboration and teamwork, promoting social skills development…to name a few.

The event was attended by the Minister for Education Dr Justin Valentin; other Officials of the Ministry; Head teachers and all SENCO Teachers.

In his remarks, Minister Valentin expressed that he “strongly believes in the holistic development of a child, be it in their academic capabilities, sportive, cultural and artistic development.”

He further stated that “it is paramount for a child to participate in recreational activities outside their class…for when they leave school, they have to apply what they learned in class in their everyday lives. Therefore, the connection between the two environments are essential”.

The Ministry of Education intents for this event to be a yearly activity on their calendar.
