Minister David Pierre Meets UAE Ambassador to Explore Scholarships and Educational Collaboration

The Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Mr. David Pierre, met with Ambassador Gervais Moumou this morning to explore avenues for deeper collaboration between Seychelles and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the education sector.

The meeting served as an opportunity to formally congratulate Minister Pierre on his appointment and to discuss how the embassy could help bridge existing gaps in educational support. Central to the discussions were scholarship opportunities for Seychellois students in the UAE, with a focus on enticing more students to pursue studies at reputable universities in the region.

Minister Pierre highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing projects that require external support and collaboration, particularly in areas such as Technical, Vocational Education, and Training (TVET). The possibility of joint funding initiatives with the UAE was raised, alongside the need to establish direct contact with universities to explore funding mechanisms.

Present at the meeting were the Principal Secretary for General Education and Curriculum, Dr. Justin Zelime; the Principal Secretary for Educational Support and Projects, Mr. Bernard Arnephy and Special Advisor, Mr. John Lesperance.
