Dr. Rolph Payet, Executive Secretary of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions Secretariat of the United Nations, officially handed over a collection of educational handbooks titled Plastics are Forever to the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development on Friday 3rd July.These resources, designed for both teachers and students, aim to empower youth against plastic pollution by fostering awareness, encouraging behavioural change, and strengthening environmental education in schools.
The ceremony was also addressed by the Minister of Environment, Climate, Energy and Natural Resources, Ms. Marie-May Jeremie, who welcomed the initiative and emphasized the importance of equipping schools with resources that inspire sustainability.
The Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Mr. David Pierre, formally accepted the donation and conveyed his appreciation on behalf of the Ministry, highlighting that the books will enrich schools and inspire students to become active guardians of the environment.
The event concluded with appreciation from all parties, reaffirming Seychelles’ dedication to environmental stewardship and education for sustainable development.
