The Head teachers and Directors Meeting held on Thursday15th January at SITE brought together senior leaders from across the education sector prior to the start of the academic year on Monday. The session emphasized on collaboration, alignment with national priorities, and clarity of purpose for the year ahead.
The Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Mr David Pierre, supported by his Executive Team, outlined the Ministry’s new structure to empower teachers, ensure accountability, and strengthen schools as pillars of society. In his speech, the Minister said “With authority comes responsibility, and decision-making must always be paired with accountability, professionalism, and ethical leadership”.
Key discussions addressed strategic planning, professional development, infrastructure, financial governance, and departmental responsibilities, including STEM expansion, short courses, and capacity-building initiatives. Principal Secretaries Arnephy, Zelime, and Alcindor, together with Special Advisor Lesperance, underscored a shared commitment to strengthening teaching, learning, and institutional support structures.
Participants agreed on the importance of continued dialogue and follow-up sessions to monitor progress and ensure effective implementation of reforms.
