The Commonwealth Quiz Competition finals were held on 12th March at the National Theatre,Mont Fleuri,bringing together students from both primary and secondary schools levels. These annual educational events,organized around Commonwealth Day in March, are designed to test students’ knowledge of history, geography, values, and, in particular, the Commonwealth Games.
Independent School and Vijay International School competed in this year’s finals. At primary school level, Independent School emerged as the winner, represented by Eric Lebon, Eva Lionnet, and Kalyem Waye-Hive. At secondary school level, Vijay International School claimed victory, with the winning team comprising Nelson Cupidon, Aiden Bellard, and Kristen Bedier. Both teams were awarded certificates along with the prestigious Minister’s Shield, symbolizing excellence and achievement.
Other schools that participated in the quarter-finals and semi-finals were also recognized for their efforts. They received certificates of participation, acknowledging their commitment and contribution throughout the competition.
The finals highlighted academic excellence, collaboration, and the spirit of friendly rivalry among schools. The event served not only to celebrate the winners but also to encourage curiosity, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of Commonwealth values among young learners.
