Vision Screening Programme Launched at Bel Ombre Primary School to Support Student Well-Being

The Lions Club of Seychelles, in partnership with Optic Seychelles, launched a two day Vision Screening Programme at Bel Ombre Primary School on 1st July under the theme “Better Vision, Brighter Future.” The ceremony encompassed thoughtful contributions that encouraged reflection and offered inspiration, with representatives from key partner organisations sharing words that underscored the spirit and purpose of the gathering.
Delivering his speech , Dr. Justin Zelime, Principal Secretary for General Education and Curriculum, emphasized that good vision is fundamental to effective learning and early screening helps children reach their full potential. He expressed gratitude to the Lions Club, Optic Seychelles, healthcare professionals, and volunteers for their dedication to student well being.
The programme also featured a poetry recital by students and culminated in a symbolic presentation of glasses to pupils who had been screened in the morning and identified as needing corrective support. This gesture highlighted the immediate impact of the initiative, reinforcing the Lions Club’s motto “We Serve” and the shared commitment to nurturing healthier, more confident learners across Seychelles.
