The 30th Anniversary Celebration of Pointe Larue Primary School, held on Thursday 25th June stood as a landmark occasion, commemorating three decades of excellence in education and service to the community. As part of the 50th Independence Anniversary Celebrations of Seychelles, the event highlighted the school’s enduring role in nation-building, enriched by vibrant student performances that included cultural dances, a poem recital, and a heartfelt anniversary song.
A highlight of the celebration was the recognition of dedicated educators and long-serving staff, honoured through touching testimonies and the presentation of gifts. These tributes acknowledged their invaluable contributions to the school’s enduring legacy and its role in shaping generations of learners.
In his keynote address, Minister David Pierre praised the school’s journey: “Thirty years represent far more than the passage of time. They represent learning, growth, achievement, friendship and community spirit.” He emphasised that the true measure of a school lies in the citizens it nurtures: “Pa senpleman rezilta ki i prodwir, me bann sitwayen responsab, kapab e ki annan sa konpason pou ede dan devlopman nou pei.”
Looking ahead, the Minister stressed the importance of embracing technology responsibly while maintaining strong relationships and caring environments: “Our responsibility is to ensure that our children are equipped not only with knowledge, but also with the skills, values and confidence they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.” He reaffirmed the Ministry’s support and encouraged the school community to uphold values of respect, kindness, excellence, responsibility and service.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, a group photograph, and an exhibition of achievements, leaving a strong sense of pride and optimism for the future. The event stood as a testament to the school’s motto, “Teaching for the Best,” and its continued commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and nation-building – proudly aligned with the spirit of Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee of Independence.
