A delegation from the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development is currently in Malaysia on an official mission. The team departed Seychelles on 15th May 2026 and the mission spans a duration of one week. The Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Ambassador David Pierre, is leading the delegation, accompanied by Special Advisor John Lesperance, Principal Secretary for Infrastructure and Support Services Bernard Arnephy, and Director General for Careers and Further Education Development Françoise Mein.
The mission is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to strengthen engagement with Seychellois students pursuing tertiary studies overseas and to reinforce institutional partnerships with international higher education providers. Malaysia continues to be a key destination for Seychellois students, particularly under scholarship and bilateral cooperation arrangements, and the visit highlights the Ministry’s commitment to supporting students abroad while advancing national human resource development priorities.
During the mission, the delegation has engaged directly with Seychellois students studying in Malaysian universities. These meetings provided valuable insights into their academic progress, welfare concerns, and overall adjustment to student life ,with the aim of improving student support systems. The delegation also held discussions with University management and institutional representatives to address matters affecting Seychellois students and to explore practical solutions for enhancing communication, academic outcomes, and welfare support.
The delegation seeks to ensure that future arrangements are sustainable, affordable, and responsive to the country’s human resource development needs.
Mr. Kabilan Muniandy, Honorary Consul for Seychelles in Malaysia, organized and coordinated the Ministerial delegation’s visit. He also serves as the primary contact for Seychellois students in Malaysia, providing support and guidance whenever needed. His professionalism and dedication have been exemplary, and the Ministry deeply appreciates his valuable contributions
