The Handing Over of Tickets to TVET Teachers ceremony took place on 5th May 2026 at the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development Conference Room. The event was graced by Minister David Pierre, Ambassador Lin Nan, Principal Secretaries Jean Alcindor and Bernard Arnephy, Special Advisor John Lesperance, Executive Director Dr. Linda Barallon, along with other distinguished guests.
Flight tickets were presented to the fourth cohort of TVET teachers selected to undergo professional training in China. This cohort comprises four teachers: Vanessa Songwar-Perine, Marcus Finesse, Sharon Bonne, and Kathrina Esparon, representing Perseverance Secondary, Belonie Secondary, and the Seychelles Institute of Art and Design. Their training programme, scheduled from 11th May to 7th June 2026, is jointly sponsored by the Ministry and the China-Africa Vocational Alliance under a Memorandum of Understanding signed on 23rd December 2022.
The one-month programme is designed to enhance the professional skills of Seychelles TVET teachers and introduce modern pedagogical approaches to improve teaching and learning in schools. The training will also enrich their teaching experience, promote cultural and educational exchange between China and Seychelles, and deepen the friendship between the two nations. Diverse practical teacher training and internships in industry form part of the programme, with teachers being hosted at Yantai Automobile Engineering Professional College, Binzhou Polytechnic, and Weifang Engineering Vocational College.
A Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Sharon Bonne, who expressed gratitude to the China-Africa Vocational Alliance and partner institutions for their support in making this training possible. She emphasized that the training would significantly enhance the teachers’ capacity and contribute to the advancement of TVET in Seychelles. Ms. Bonne assured that the cohort would apply the knowledge gained to benefit students and institutions.She also extended appreciation to the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development for their vision and support in teacher development.
