The Minister for Education and Human Resource Development,Mr David Pierre hosted a gathering with former ministers, creating a unique forum to reflect on past achievements and discuss the future of education in Seychelles.The former Ministers in attendance were Mrs. Jeanne Simeon, Mrs Macsuzy Mondon, Mr Joel Morgan, Mr Danny Faure and Mr Bernard Shamelaye.Other former Ministers were unable to attend this first forum however they welcomed the invitation with gratitude.
They expressed appreciation for the opportunity, recalling the many pivotal decisions taken during their tenure and the enduring memories of service. They emphasized their shared commitment to advancing education for the benefit of all Seychellois children. Mrs. Simeon highlighted her experience of teaching across all levels, acknowledging both challenges and triumphs, while Minister Morgan reflected on the analytical approach and initiatives that helped strengthen the education system.
Current leadership, represented by Minister Pierre, underscored the complexity of today’s education landscape and the importance of continuous dialogue with experienced voices. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to finalizing its strategic plan and elevating the teaching profession to make it more desirable.
The event also featured a presentation of the MEHRD structure by the three Principal Secretaries, outlining departmental responsibilities. Updates were shared on the Seychelles Vocational Training Centre and key performance indicators not only for teachers but also in areas such as infrastructure.
This gathering served as both a celebration of past contributions and a reaffirmation of collective commitment to shaping the future of education in Seychelles.
