Eight students who travelled to Japan between 24th August and 4th September 2025 gave a presentation at the Ministry’s headquarters on Thursday 5 March 2026.
The participants, representing Anse Royale and English River Secondary Schools, shared their day-to-day activities and reflections from the visit. Additionally, students from International School Seychelles also took part in the exchange, although they were not present at the event.
This exchange formed part of the EXPO International Exchange Programme, which brought together Seychellois students and their peers from Ozora High School in Hokkaido and Reihoku High School in Kochi Prefecture.
Over ten enriching days, the students experienced the vibrancy of the Osaka Expo, discovered the warmth of Japanese communities, admired the country’s natural landscapes, and explored innovations within its education system. They engaged in inquiry-based learning, cultural exchange, and discussions on building a sustainable future society. Through these experiences, they forged friendships, broadened their perspectives, and strengthened essential skills such as adaptability, collaboration, and intercultural understanding. Importantly, they proudly represented Seychelles on the international stage.
This initiative was made possible through the support of the Embassy of Japan in Seychelles. Present at the ceremony was the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Mr. Sakuta Makoto, who joined the Ministry in celebrating the success of the programme.
The Minister for Education, Ambassador David Pierre expressed his sincere appreciation to the Japanese Embassy, partner schools, accompanying educators, and the families who supported this initiative. Their collective efforts ensured that the students benefitted from meaningful international exchanges that inspired growth and global citizenship.
